Good Evening potential lawyers of the future!
The Bar Society is proud to announce that we are now recruiting for the following 2 positions; Treasurer and Mooting Officer! This is your chance as a student to not only become actively involved within a legal society, but can help get your name and work ethic recognised by your fellow class mates and teachers! Also this is your chance to make a real and positive difference to the Bar Society whilst also picking up invaluable skills that you can utilise for future employment!
So here are the 2 positions and their job roles listed below;
Treasurer
To ensure the Society’s finances are in order. To have overall responsibility for the Society’s finances, with direction from the President and Committee.
To produce the end of year financial report for the Committee. To produce ad hoc financial reports as requested by the President or Committee. To keep up-to-date and accurate accounts.
To seek funding opportunities and sponsorship including from the Inns of Court.
To produce monthly spending reports.
To ensure the Society does not overspend.
To respond promptly to all financial queries.
To ensure the Society’s finances are dealt with in confidence.
To undertake other tasks as appropriate.
Mooting Officer
To take overall responsibility for the Society’s mooting and debating programmes.
To run the Mooting Development Team.
To delegate as appropriate, tasks to the Junior Mooting Officer.
To contact external lawyers and academics to act as judges in moots and debates.
To book rooms for moots and debates.
To organise the production of moot problems and debate topics.
To organise refreshments for during and after moots and debates.
To select teams for external mooting competitions by means of a fair and rigorous selection process.
To ensure all applications for external competitions are made on time. To deal with associated administrative issues.
To undertake other tasks as appropriate.
